It is an axiomatic in thermodynamics that when two systems are brought in contact through some kind of wall, energy transfer such as heat and work takes place between them. The transfer and conversion of energy from one form to another is basic to all heat transfer process and hence they are governed by first and second law of thermodynamics. The basic difference between thermodynamics and heat transfer is that former deal with relation between heat and other forms of energy whereas latter is concerned with rate of heat transfer. Heat transfer is associated fluid dynamics and it is also supplements the laws of thermodynamics providing additional experimental rules to establish transfer rates.

The study of temperature and heat transfer is of great importance to energy because of its almost universal occurrence in many branches of science and engineering. The mechanism of heat transfer is conduction, convection and radiation. All experiments necessary to provide the practical aspects of above said mechanisms are provided in our labs which are developed by experts and engineers and is up to the syllabus of Rajasthan University.
